Average Commercial Meat Rabbit Growth Rates

Several breeds and resources were used to arrive at reliable average rates for meat rabbits from 4 to 24 weeks of age.

The weights on this chart are averages of several different commercial meat rabbit breeds (commercial meaning the breeds that are generally considered the best for meat production). Because several different breeds are averaged, there is a range for the weights.

Hitting any weights along this chart would indicate favorable grow out weights. Look for steady rates of growth and weights that land near desirable average targets.

Champagne d'argent meat rabbit on the scale
A range of weights are given which encompass most of the best commercial meat rabbit breeds.

  • Californian
  • Champagne D'Argent
  • Creme D'Argent
  • Silver Fox
  • Rex
  • Medium-sized crosses (for example, Californian x New Zealand, Californian x Champagne D'Argent...)
