About the Meat Rabbit Weight Chart
This chart averages weights from several different common breeds of meat rabbits that fall into what is considered the "medium" size rabbit category (also referred to as "commercial" breeds of rabbits). This is the category that shows the most efficient feed conversion and has the best bone-to-meat ratios. In other words, the most common breeds used for meat production.

Averages Ranges for Commercial or Medium Breed Rabbits (Meat Rabbit Breeds)
Examples of breeds used in determining the weight ranges include
- New Zealand
- Californian
- Champagne D'Argent
- Creme D'Argent
- Silver Fox
- Rex
- Medium-sized crosses (for example, Californian x New Zealand, Californian x Champagne D'Argent...)

Keep in mind these weights represent a range of averages. It is intended as a guide to help you know if your meat rabbits are good performers and if they are following a reasonable arc for meat production.
Accommodate for Your Breed's Expected Mature Weight
There will be variations according to breeds, with slightly smaller breeds falling on the lower end and the heavier of the medium-weight breeds leaning more toward the middle to high-end weights.

Maurice Döpke
Hello Mary,
I could not find any other means to contact you, which is why I am writing this comment. I am the founder of the App RabbitCloud https://rabbitcloud.com/en Currently most of our users are European show breeders, but we are interested in possibly adjusting it to make it work for meat breeders as well.
We are looking for someone who is experienced in meat rabbits and has a audience, like you who is interested in exploring this as a mutual beneficial project.
I would love to hear your thoughts on that.
Best,
Maurice

Hi Maurice. I will email you and we can chat some more. Thank You

Would you mind if I used the numbers from your chart on a growout spreadsheet I'm planning to offer (for free) on my own rabbitry website? I would link to this page and credit you for the information, of course. My website is https://silversonsrabbitry.com/ (a local Ohio rabbitry so who knows if anyone will even download my chart).
You are one of my "rabbit heroes" who helped me get into rabbits at all, and all of the information you provide is SO appreciated. Thank you!
Mary Ward
HI Lauren,
That would be fine as long as there is a link on the spreadsheet and on the post write up. Thank you! Your site looks great!
