This free, printable, downloadable meat rabbit record will help you keep a quick track of the breeding, litters, and deliveries in your meat rabbitry.

Having more complete information on individual animals (like a specific doe or buck) or on individual litters paints a good, full picture of that focal point, but it is also extremely valuable to have a place of more collective information that shows your rabbitry as a whole and what goes on there overall.

Your Whole Breeding Year At A Glance

Rather than focusing on one rabbit and one litter at a time, this record is an ongoing log in which you can record every breeding exposure and the litters that result (or do not result) from those matings.
While this may seem somewhat redundant, especially if you are keeping track of your individual litters with the meat rabbit litter record, there is a definite advantage to keeping this record in addition to the specific litter records.
Rather than seeing what just one doe and her kits are doing, this record will give you a wider perspective on what is going on in your rabbitry. Some of the things this collective breeding record can show you are

- Who was bred and when
- What does are coming due
- Which doe and buck combinations perform the best -- the most kits produced, the best average meat yields, etc.
- Which does are consistently delivering live kits
- Which does are consistently raising most or all of their kits up to weaning age
- If there are patterns amongst the does overall -- patterns of health issues, weaning enteritis, failure to thrive, etc
- If certain times of year result in more successful breedings and pregnancies
- The overall production of your rabbitry for the period of time of the recording
- Any other patterns that seem to emerge from the data being presented side by side
Notes for Additional Issues of Interest

You will also find a small notes section where you can notate anything worth knowing. Again, this can be used to reveal individual doe and buck information, or to spot patterns across different breeders, breeds, or litters.
You can note anything of potential value to you, but some things you might take note of include things like:

- If there are issues with using nest boxes or delivering on wire across the rabbitry (which might tell you there is a problem with nest box placement or design, for example)
- If you modified the feed program for a litter or litters, and if there is a correlation with litter success or failure that may have resulted from that modification
- If there are problems with individual does, or bucks (reluctance to lift, delivering on wire, bucks aggressive towards does)
- Kits with early diarrhea or enteritis
- Kits with weaning enteritis
- Kits with nest box eye
- Eye infections later in development
- Birth defects
- Genetic problems like entropion eyelid or malocclusion (overgrowing teeth)
- Illnesses or failure to thrive
- Does with delivery difficulties
- Any other note of interest or potential use to you

Data Informs Meat Rabbit Management Decisions

Some of this information may seem inconsequential. Some of it, in fact, may prove to be of little or no future interest. But it can be hard to know that when something is happening. So, it is worth collecting notes and information so you can refer back to them when you realize the need.
Over time, the collective data is an excellent resource to fall back on as you are making management and breeding decisions in your meat rabbit program.
It’s easy to think that we will remember those things that go on in our meat rabbit barns and rabbitries - especially when those things stand out because they challenge us. But given the frequency of breeding and the sheer rabbit math and rabbit numbers, soon those things we knew we would remember all start to blend together.
Having them down in quick reference notes and records makes it easy to remember what we swore we would never forget!
